SPOTLIGHT: SARA LEE

Sara Lee is a member of a musical family from England - both parents
were professional music teachers and her sister is a classical cellist.
Sara is one of the more famous players to emerge from the 1980's British
alternative music scene.
Sara formed the Stilettos in 1978, a punk band based in London.
Soon thereafter, she began an ongoing association with Robert Fripp in
1980 as a member of The League of Gentlemen. Sara played with Robyn
Hitchcock in 1981 for a brief period before joining the Gang of Four. Following
that band's breakup in 1984, Sara formed The Raging Hormones, a current
project with Steve Jordan and Charley Drayton.
In the late 80's, Sara toured as the bassist for the Thompson
Twins in the U.S. and Europe. She was then brought in by the B-52s to record
"Cosmic Thing" and toured with them for the next two years.
On the suggestion of producer Scott Litt, Indigo Girls invited
Sara Lee to perform on "Nomads Indians Saints." The sessions led to a
nationwide tour and participation on the subsequent live EP, "Back on the Bus,
Y'all." Sara was back in the studio with Amy and Emily throughout the recording
of "Rites of Passage" and will continue to play with them on the "Rites of
Passage" World Tour.
